I want to share something that has been showing up for a lot of people over the last few months, probably even longer but it has been an underlying theme that is discussed often and I know many others have experienced the same and they don’t understand why. I share so you know, you're not alone in it.
The theme as been around this point in your life where you are not happy, you’re not as healthy as you want to be, your life isn’t what you thought it would be at this point, you feel exhausted and overwhelmed and maybe you’ve been working on your health, however you feel really stuck and are having a hard time making progress.
You have tried all the things, taken all the supplements and you're still not where you want to be and you don’t know why.
Why is the needle not moving? Why am I not there yet?
One of the biggest things that I find with my patients that prevents them from getting the results they want, what prevents them from healing, is nervous system dysregulation. This shows up and is influenced by many factors but one of them is, what your nervous system considers safe.
For example, You feel terrible every day, waking up exhausted, not sleeping well, feeling disconnected, going through the motions of your day, running on fumes, every day feels the same, you’re just pushing through until the end of the day where you doom scroll and couch rot because you have nothing left to give or pour into yourself and the cycle happens again the next day and the next day.
Sound familiar?
You don’t feel good, but you also don’t have enough energy to make changes required to move forward. Maybe you’re trying some things, but they aren’t working, and you feel helpless with progress.
What happens is, that your nervous system, even though you don’t feel good right now, will always choose the familiar, even when it's uncomfortable because it knows what to expect. You know what you’re going to feel like every day and it is safer to feel terrible because you know what it’s going to feel like even if it’s not good.
When it comes to making changes, the nervous system is like “you sure? You sure you want to feel better? We don’t know what is on the other side of this? We don’t know what to expect if we don’t feel like this anymore? We don’t know what if feels like to not feel terrible?”
And that keeps you stuck.
Even when you are doing all the right things. There’s a block. The wall you can’t seem to break through. The progress you can’t make…
Because the question becomes…
Who are you without all these health problems?
Who are you with energy?
Who are you when you are connected to yourself?
What will be required of you, if you feel better?
Right now, when your tank is empty, knowing you will have to show up for more and show up fully if you feel better, feels like too much. It doesn’t feel safe. You don’t have that capacity to even imagine what that will feel like, so you stay stuck. Because again, that unfamiliar feeling is more scary and uncomfortable, than the discomfort you're currently in.
There is more fear in the unknown of what is on the other side of healing, because you haven’t been there in a long time. You don’t know what life would truly be like.
You envision it, you want it, you yearn for it. You’re doing all the things to get there but the unknown is unfamiliar and unfamiliar is not safe.
Crazy right?
But I encourage you to sit with that for a moment...
What is required of you to show up fully connected, energized, thriving every day?
What will change in your life?
Who will you become?
Who will be around when you get there?
I will tell you, the people in your life, they like you stuck right where you are too, not out of malicious intent, but because it is familiar, and if you do better, you become healthier, if you change just a little bit, it will require them to do the same and you push up against their edges too. Crabs in a bucket.

Questions to ask yourself & truly sit with what comes up for you…
Are you ready, willing and able to heal?
Do you believe you can heal?

Consciously, the answer is usually yes.
Subconsciously, your nervous system is saying “well maybe but this one time, this happened and now that doesn’t feel good so we’re not going there, well stay right here, it's safer here even if it hurts”
Because these limiting beliefs are subconscious it can sometimes be difficult to really find the core of what is preventing you from being ready, willing and able to heal.
